LUZINSKI RIPS 3 HRS IN PHILS COMEBACK 'W'
3rd Blow Ties Game in 9th

PHILADELPHIA, June 22 (AP) - Greg Luzinski's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning tied the game and Mike Schmidt's single in the 10th won it as the Philadelphia Phillies overcame a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Montreal Expos, 6-5, at Veterans Stadium.  The Luzinski game-tier was his third round tripper of the contest, making the Philadelphia left fielder just the third National Leaguer--and fifth big leaguer--to accomplish the feat this season.

The Expos took a 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in both the first and fourth innings.  Pepe Mangual led off the ball game with a home run off Phillies starter Jim Lonborg and Jim Lyttle followed with a double.  One out later, Mike Jorgensen singled home Lyttle to give Montreal a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth, the long ball bit Lonborg again.  Tim Foli doubled with one out and, after Barry Foote grounded out, Pete Mackanin clubbed his fourth home run of the year.  The two-run shot gave the Expos a 4-0 advantage.

But the Phillies got a run back in the bottom of the fourth on Luzinski's first home run of the game--a solo shot off Montreal starter Clay Kirby.

Philadelphia drew to within a run in the fifth and, once again, Luzinski was responsible--with some help from the Expos defense.  With one out, Larry Bowa reached on a miscue by first baseman Jorgensen.  Kirby fanned Mike Schmidt but Luzinski's long home run just inside the left field foul pole cut the Phillies' deficit to a single run.

The Expos got a run back in the sixth when Jorgensen drew a lead-off walk, moved to second on a ground out and scored on Foote's double.  The Phillies climbed to within a run again when Schmidt drew a lead-off free pass and scored on a two-out double by Jay Johnstone.

The Expos clung to their 5-4 lead until the ninth.  Fred Scherman retired Bowa and Schmidt, moving Montreal to within one out of victory.  But Luzinski deposited a 2-2 breaking ball into the seats in left field for his third home run, tying the game.

The Expos put two runners on base with two outs in the top of the 10th but Tug McGraw fanned pinch hitter Bombo Rivera to end the threat.

In the bottom of the tenth, facing Chip Lang, pinch hitter Tommy Hutton drew a one-out walk and Dave Cash followed with another free pass, putting runners on first and second.  Bowa rolled into a fielder's choice, forcing Cash at second, leaving it up to Mike Schmidt.  The Phillies third baseman jumped on the first pitch from Lang, grounding a single into left field, scoring Hutton to win the game.
